Diagnosis dan Pengobatan Babesiosis pada Anjing Shih-Tzu di Klinik Lilipoet, Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Dogs are one of the pet animals that have a loyal nature and widely cared for in community. It is not uncommon dogs to often play parks or outdoor environments surrounded by grass with their owners. The breeding ground ticks, which can be vectors disease carriers dogs. Babesiosis caused Babesia sp. transmitted tick vectors. In this paper, we will discuss clinical condition, diagnosis, treatment dog babesiosis at Lilipoet clinic, Yogyakarta. A Shih-Tzu has symptoms fever temperature 39.9oC, decreased appetite, history yellow vomiting, found tick. Blood was collected microscopic examination blood smears, hematologic, molecular examination. Hematologic showed value thrombocytopenia 32 x 103/µL. Molecular Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) positive results visible DNA bands 490bp. Treatment carried out giving dose antiprotozoal diminazen aceturate 3.5 mg/kg BW doxycycline 10mg/kg once day 14 days.
